Basic Setup
- Number of Players: 2-4
- Equipment: Each player gets:
- 1 dice cup
- 5 dice
- 2 bottles of poison
- Objective:
Avoid drinking both bottles of poison and be the last player standing. You will drink poison if someone successfully calls you out as a liar or if your challenge against someone else’s bid fails. - Elimination:
A player is out of the game after drinking 2 bottles of poison.
How Bidding Works
- Start with a Bid:
The first player makes a bid based on the total dice under all players’ cups.
For Example: “3 dice showing 2 pips” (means across all players, at least 3 dice are showing 2 pips). - Next Player’s Turn:
The next player can:
- Raise the Bid: Increase the number of dice or choose a higher pip value.
Example: Change “3 dice showing 2 pips” to “4 dice showing 2 pips” or “3 dice showing 3 pips.” - Call “Liar!”: Challenge the previous player’s bid if you think they are bluffing.
- Raise the Bid: Increase the number of dice or choose a higher pip value.
- Rules for Bidding:
- If you bid the same number of dice, you must pick a higher pip value.
(e.g., From “3 dice showing 2 pips” to “3 dice showing 3 pips”). - If you bid a higher number of dice, you can choose any pip value.
(e.g., From “3 dice showing 2 pips” to “4 dice showing 2 pips” or “5 dice showing 3 pips”).
- If you bid the same number of dice, you must pick a higher pip value.
Game Process
- Roll Dice:
All players shake their dice cups and roll their dice in secret. - Bidding Begins:
The first player makes a bid about the total dice.
For Example: “4 dice showing 5 pips.” - Next Player’s Choice:
- Raise the Bid: Increase the claim or change the pip value.
Call “Liar!”: Challenge the previous bid if they think it’s false.
- Resolving a Challenge (“Liar!”):
- If the Challenge is Correct:
The challenged player drinks poison.
- If the Challenge is Correct:
If the Challenge Fails:
The challenger drinks poison.
- New Rounds:
- If a player drinks their first bottle of poison, the game continues with a new round.
- Players re-roll their dice, and the next round starts with a new bid.
- Winning the Game:
The game ends when only one player remains. This player is declared the winner!
Additional Rules
